Welcome to our team
Welcome to our new part-time Outreach Manager Julia Hamori. You can contact Julia at: outreach@rmns.org.uk This post is funded by: Rosemary Bloxham -
an appreciation Rosemary Bloxham, who died on 11th January, was a founder member of Refugee Network Sutton (now RMNS). She was the first chair in 1991 and established a network of support for the many refugees then arriving in Sutton. Through her own contacts and members of the Good Shepherd Church she organised the collection of donations of household goods and welcome boxes of appropriate food. She successfully negotiated with Sutton Council on a variety of issues, grants for the use of premises and supporting a part-time development worker. She was hugely successful in arranging for the pastoral support worker of the Diocese of Southwark to assist RNS work. She obtained grants from major trusts for projects such as one for young refugees which offered outings, cooking and activities and another offering support with counselling. She organised outings to the seaside and Thorpe Park and annual parties. As chair Rosemary prepared RNS to register as a charity. Rosemary was an inspiration in her work to help those she knew were in great need – those who had left their homes and families to seek safety. She led RMNS with warmth and unstinting commitment. May she rest in peace.
